Festivals & Celebrations

At the Eugene Waldorf School we commemorate cultural celebrations that are a reflection of seasonal rhythms, important transitions, and cultural traditions. Celebrations may include the telling of stories, cooking and singing, as well as contributions from community members. Some celebrations that are honored at our school include Lunar New Year, Sukkot, Michaelmas, Indigenous People’s Day, Dia de los muertos, Diwali, Spiral of Light, Hanukkah, Advent and Martin Luther King Junior Day.

For the Winter Light Celebration and May Day we may host festivals with many activities and open our campus to the larger community to celebrate with us.

Family members are encouraged to speak to their class teacher if they would like to make contributions to share family stories and/or cultural celebrations with a class.
